Social Return on Investment
What is SROI?
All you need to know about SROI, Dutch government tenders, and Zuivere Koffie
What does SROI mean?
SROI is short for Social Return on Investment. SROI is a method initiated by the Dutch government to help create jobs for people that have disadvantages to enter the labour market. A minimum of 5% (up to 10%) of the bid for a government related tender has to be invested in Social Return. The goal of the government is to create a more inclusive labour market.
At what point do you have a SROI requirement?
For each (won) tender from a local or national governmental organisation there is an SROI requirement. It is an award criteria and a contractual condition in the tender contact and consists of a minimum of 5% (indirect realisation), up to 10% (direct realisation) of the total contract value.
How to meet your SROI requirements?
There are multiple ways to meet your SROI requirements. You could hire people with a disadvantage to the labour market (direct realisation), but you can also buy products from PSO30+ certified companies (indirect realisation). These certified companies are helping people with a disadvantage to the labour market find jobs.
Zuivere Koffie is PSO30+ certified.
Zuivere koffie is PSO30+ certified. Every euro you spend with us counts towards your SROI requirement
Match made in Prison
Zuivere Koffie is a Social Enterprise and PSO30+ certified. This means that you can meet the Social Return on Investment (SROI) requirement in government procurement by buying our products and/or services. Whether that is coffee at the office, new coffee machines, employee gifts, Christmas boxes for your beloved clients or hiring our baristas at events. Every euro counts towards your Social Return On Investment requirement and every euro helps to make even more impact.
We work together with companies to meet their SROI requirements after they have won a government tender, but we are also an anticipated partner in the process of making a tender bid or RFT (Request For Tender).
The Zuivere Koffie Way
From crook to coffee master
Inside - work on your future
Make amazing products
At our energy regenerative roastery, bakery, and tea assembly facilities inside Dutch prisons, our taste experts work alongside prison residents to produce our coffees, teas and sweets. At any given moment, we employ 70 prison residents and teach them the crafts and skills they need to find meaningful employment once they are released from prison. By working with [inmates] in this capacity, we help to boost self-esteem and pride, as well as enhance social skills.
Inside - level up your skills
Get education
At the Zuivere Koffie Street University we offer various courses to inmates.
From bakery skills to coffee master, barista, and hospitality our courses are designed to not only teach a craft but also gain a wider range of life lessons. Listening, presentation and social skills help our students prepare for a better future and find work when they are released from prison.
Outside - a second chance
Find an honest job
Zuivere Koffie gives (ex-)convicts a second chance in life. We have a proven track record of helping our 'students' find a suitable role for them. Whether it’s in one of our Zuivere Koffie bars or within our wider network of partners, our students get real jobs with real salaries. Of those who complete our program, 85% of them are still out of prison after one year.
From crook to coffee master. The Zuivere Koffie Reintegration Model shows that it's possible. This is what we refer to when saying 'Life Changing Specialty Coffee'.
